Anayla Fontán Núñez

Your Puerto Rico Dog Trainer

Anayla is a Puerto Rico native. From a young age, she lived completely surrounded by animals, which meant she grew up loving and respecting them.

Anayla studied a bachelor’s degree in Natural Sciences, majoring in Coastal Marine Biology at the University of Puerto Rico at Humacao. After graduating, she had several jobs, and none of them made her feel accomplished nor fulfilled. At the same time, she rescued Marek, a pitbull mix whom she loves deeply. However, Marek had aggression problems, and Anayla could not take him out in public. After deciding to take Marek to lessons to resolve his issues, Anayla’s spark for dog training, canine psychology and behavior modification was ignited. She decided to work towards becoming a dog trainer.

After studying online, working with other dog trainers, and taking seminars, Anayla started working with the D.A.S.H.A. program. They offered her the opportunity to complete a six-month internship with Highland Canine. During her internship, Anayla had the opportunity to train a number of different types of service dogs. As she explains, this experience was very rewarding.

“It was really gratifying sharing time with service dog owners,” says Anayla. “Seeing how a dog could improve their relationship with the world, their disability, and change the family’s lifestyle for the better. Working with nursing homes and schools also gave me the opportunity to see how a trained therapy dog brought so much joy and comfort to an individual’s day.”

In addition, Anayla also worked with the other divisions of Highland Canine Training, including working dogs, teaching detection and patrol work; as well as pet dogs, identifying and resolving different behavior problems. Anayla also completed the Master Dog Trainer Program at the School for Dog Trainers.

As Anayla explains, she is looking forward to working with dog owners in Puerto Rico.

“I am excited to bring all the knowledge and training methods I learned at Highland Canine to Puerto Rico. My goal in coming back to Puerto Rico is to provide and train the best service dogs to people in need, as well as educate people with pet dogs on how to improve their relationship between themselves and their dogs.”

Anayla is proud to offer a variety of dog training services in Puerto Rico. These include:

Our private lessons and behavioral modification programs help you to achieve the results you need with your dog.

With private lessons, our trainers come to your home once per week. Following an initial evaluation, our trainers use their knowledge and experience to develop an action plan to help you achieve your goals. We place importance on teaching owners the best way to maintain these behaviors for the future.

All of our training programs are guaranteed and include free follow-up training for the life of the dog.

Our trainers offer a wide variety of group dog training classes. This is perfect for socializing your dog in a safe environment. Meeting other pups and different people in a group class setting helps your dog to adapt to new environments and learn new skills.

Our curriculum includes basic obedience, advanced obedience, foundational search and rescue, scent work and puppy classes among others. These classes typically run for six weeks, with classes taking place once a week.

For more information on upcoming group dog training classes, take a look at our calendar, or contact Anayla today!

We are proud to offer Board & Train programs for our clients in Puerto Rico.

Our Board & Train programs allow you to leave your dog with our professional dog trainer for three or six weeks. During that time, we will work with your dog on a daily basis to resolve problematic behaviors. When you pick up your dog, we’ll show you how to maintain your dog’s new behaviors.

Contact Anayla for more information on our Board and Train programs. Our evaluations are free and our training programs are guaranteed for the life of the dog.
